The25cheetahswereallimportedillegallyintotheUAEandwereinterceptedattheUAE

warytoapproachduringthefemale’eresponsibilityof
thekeeperthereforetomonitoreachindividualandtobeabletorespondtoanyindicationfrom
bondthatinvariablydevelops
betweenthekeeperandthecheetahnablesthekeepertospoteventhemostsubtlesignsfrom
stbetweenkeeperandanimalhasalsoallowedtheopportunityto
studycellularchangesinthexualorgansofthefemalesduringthehormonalcyclesthatoccur
priortoreproduction.
TheBreedingCentre’scheetahsarealsoparticipantsintheEuropeanbreedingprogramme,
whichaimstoensurethatthegeneticdiversityofthindangeredspeciesismaintainedand
expandedbybreedingasmanyfounderanimalsaspossibletointroducenewbloodlinesintothe
