⼀个名字传达不了太多，关键在于对名字背后含义的解释。

The Dragon Boat Festival falls on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month.

端午节在农历五⽉初五。

表⽰某个节⽇是在哪⼀天，⽤fall on，落在某⼀天。

fall on真的既地道⼜官⽅，写在试卷上绝对很⾼级的。

对端午节的解释，当然就是端午节的⼏个重要传统习俗了。

⾸先，粽⼦，rice-dumpling/zongzi.

粽⼦在端午节的地位应该是最重要的了。粽⼦的英⽂是:rice-dumpling，这是⽐较书⾯的表达，更常⽤的表达是

zongzi，就是粽⼦的拼⾳直译。因为是中国特有的⾷物，所以直译过来也没问题，类似还有很多是中⽂拼⾳直译过来

的，如饺⼦的“jiaozi”。还有不是完全拼⾳，近似的直译⾖腐的“tofu”，功夫的“kung fu”。

因为⽼外对粽⼦没有概念，所以名字说成什么样，他们都是⼀脸懵逼，那我们⼲脆就说Zongzi好啦。

重要的依然是对粽⼦的解释：

The Dragon Boat Festival,also called Double Fifth Festival,is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to

the Chine calendar.

This festival is to commemorate the death of QU Yuan,an upright and honest poet and statesman who is said to have

committed suicide by drowning himlf in a river.

The most important activity of this festival is the Dragon Boat races. It symbolizes people‘s attempts to rescue Qu

It can be made by many kinds of stuffing. What’s more, hanging herbs on the front door, drinking realgar wine and
