argument that this practice originated in India, "Li Quan festival".

Nowadays, there appears a phenomenon that the western
customs are spreading into the east countries step by step, thus
making many inhabitants who live in big cities enjoy themlves
on the western festivals such as Christmas Day, April Fool’s
Day, etc. Such phenomenon shows us that the world people are
getting clo gradually and the world is becoming smaller and
smaller as well. Therefore, in my opinion, it’s a normal
phenomenon s well as a necessary trend.
First of all, it shows that we Chine have become much
opener rather than clinging to some very old customs, which are
opposite our living. Looking back on the history, we can find the
answer to why our China was very poor and weak in the 1800’s.
Yes, the answer is that we clod ourlves not to let other
countries know about us, and this led us to a very hard road on
which we suffered many wars that many European countries
launched. So I think it is more than necessary to accept other
customs instead of closing ourlves. Of cour, festivals are just
the beginning.
What’s more, the Open and Reform Policy results in this. So
I want to say it is a great achievement for the policy. Since we
took the policy into practice, our country is developing with a
rapid speed. No doubt it is an esntial trend.
Last but not the least, we may get clor and clor not only
to our home friends but also to many foreigners. We can never
feel embarrasd for not knowing the other’s customs and
manners. And more misunderstandings can be avoided as well.
To sum up, the trend has its great advantage to a certain
extent. However, if we admire the western customs too much, it
will be a disadvantage becau China is our own country, all of
us should enjoy a patriotic heart. Wish in the near future, we can
e the situation that westerners are enjoying themlves on the
Spring Festival.
2020愚人节的英语作文范文四
1st April is a day to be careful, or you could easily get tricked
by someone. It’s April fool’s Day, a day when people
traditionally like to try to make a fool of someone el and laugh
at them.
There are lots of theories surrounding the origins of the day,
but one explanation is connected with the change in the calendar
in the 16th century, which meant that 1st April was no longer the
beginning of the year. Tho who still celebrated the New Year
on 1st April were called fools.
So what kind of pranks do people play on April fool’s Day?
Well, there are lots of simple tricks that you can play on your
friends. For example, you could wear a black sweater and pull a
piece of white thread through it, so that people try to pull it off.
You could change the time on someone’s alarm clock so that
they’re late for work. Or glue a coin to the floor and e how
many people try to pick it up.
All the are small-scale practical jokes which you might play
on one other person or a few people. But there’s also a tradition
of large companies attempting to fool a lot of people. For
example a burger restaurant once claimed that they were
introducing a left-handed burger!
In particular, the media often try to make people believe
something which is not true. Newspapers publish some ludicrous
stories every year, although some of them are actually true. It’s
entertaining to try to guess which stories are true and which are
fake. In the April Fool’s stories, they often include a clue to the
fact that it’s a joke. For example the name of an ‘expert’
quoted in the article might be an anagram of ‘April Fool’.
Radio and television programmes have also fooled many
people by broadcasting reports which are untrue. One
programme announced the invention of an amazing new weight-
loss product - water which contained minus calories!
And one of the most famous hoaxes ever was broadcast by
the BBC itlf in 1957! A very rious news programme called
Panorama reported on the poor spaghetti harvest in Switzerland,
and showed pictures of farmers picking spaghetti from trees!
Hundreds of people were taken in and wrote to the BBC asking
how to grow their own spaghetti.
